PRACTICE
Donnelly Turpin Architects was founded in 1996 by Charlie Donnelly and Mark Turpin. Mark, along with John Winslow, who joined the firm in 1998, are currently the two directors of the practice.
The practice has gained experience in a wide range of building types that include multi-unit residential, government, institutional and commercial offices, as well as community facilities that include swimming pools, leisure and community facilities, childcare buildings, library and interpretive facilities.
Donnelly Turpin Architects has successfully completed a number of high-profile building projects including Leinster House 2000 – a 10,000 sq m extension to the Houses of the Oireachtas, The Irish Times Building on Tara Street in Dublin, The Swan Leisure Building in Rathmines and, most recently, the refurbishment and conversion of the landmark N.I.B. Building, College Green (now housing H+M). Projects that are recently completed or currently nearing completion include residential developments at Stillorgan, Howth, Malahide and Foxrock.
For these and other projects the practice has received wide recognition for the design quality of its completed buildings. These include awards from the Architectural Association of Ireland (AAI), the Royal Institute of Irish Architects(RIAI), and the prestigious international award of the Europa Nostra Medal.

Mark Turpin has been a principal in Donnelly Turpin Architects since its initiation in 1997. Previously Mark gained a wide range of experience internationally; he has worked in London (Scott Tallon Walker), New York (Alfredo de Vido Architects), Italy and Japan (Renzo Piano building workshop) and in Dublin (Gilroy McMahon Architects). Since 1997 he has been in charge of a wide range of completed projects.
Mark has tutored and lectured at both UCD & DIT Schools of Architecture. since 2006 he has been a member of the RIAI visiting board which assesses the accreditation at the UCD, DIT and UL Schools of Architecture. Mark has also been an Assessor for the AAI and the RIAI awards.

John Winslow is a Director with Donnelly Turpin Architects, having joined the practice in 1998 and has 25 years experience as a qualified Architect in both the UK and Ireland and is an accredited RIAI Grade 3 Conservation Architect. Previously, John worked in Scotland and London with Reid Architecture, having studied at the Mackintosh School of Architecture in Glasgow. Since 1998 he has led Design Teams in the procurement and construction stages of a wide variety complex flagship projects for Dublin City Council and commercial clients.
John has tutored and lectured at UCD School of Architecture where he is currently an external examiner in Professional Practice.
