Churchtown Mixed Use Commercial Development

The initial brief sought to retain the original steel framed single storey structure which was formerly a public house/nightclub and to extend this to provide a new 12,250sq. ft. mixed use commercial development.  Located in the heart of Churchtown village, the new development comprises of 5 commercial units, including a medical centre, arranged around a new central courtyard.

The existing structure was stripped back to its original steel frame and subdivided into 5 new commercial units with a new frameless glass shopfront nearly 40m long running the full length of the building.  The original building footprint, including the unusual double pitched roof profile, was retained and entirely reclad.  A new steel framed structure wraps around the rear of the original building to form a new private external courtyard on to which looks the new medical centre.  This provides natural light and ventilation to all of the consultation rooms.
